Data records

  • Repeatability is the closeness of agreement among successive measurements of the same quantity made under the same conditions, with the same instrument, operator, procedure and location within a short time. It is the short-term component of measurement precision, as distinct from reproducibility, which admits changes of instrument, operator or time between the measurements. • The NIST/SEMATECH e-Handbook of Statistical Methods glossary treats repeatability as the short-term part of measurement precision, the variability seen when the instrument, operator, setup and ambient environment are all held the same, and reproducibility as the total measurement precision, which takes in the long-term variability and the variation from one instrument or laboratory to another.
