Data records
- Burden is the load connected to the secondary of an instrument transformer, expressed as an impedance or as the apparent power drawn at rated secondary current, within which the transformer holds its accuracy class. The related term burden voltage names the voltage drop across the internal shunt of a multimeter or ammeter when it measures current, a drop that reduces the current in the circuit under test.
