Lead resistance compensation

Updated 2026-10-27

Data records

  • Lead-resistance compensation is the subtraction of the resistance of the test leads from a two-terminal resistance or continuity reading, obtained by shorting the leads together and storing the resulting value as a zero before measuring. It corrects for the leads but not for the contact resistance at the probe tips, which only a four-terminal measurement removes.
